Negative Product Points
Glass!!! I hear the horror stories of implosion and that scares me. I don't want glass flying everywhere. It can be somewhat of a pain to clean and I have to be super careful because I fear the glass tube will chip if I am not paying attention. Storing the cloth filter
Detailed Commentary
For many years I have used almost exclusivly the French Press for my morning coffee ritual. I have the routine down pat, and I can make FP coffee as fast as any Auto-drip and hardly any work. However, the sediment was not bad but I wanted that flavor, minus the sediment. That was why I purchased a vaccum pot. I have love this thing for 4 months now. I use it about 75% now. The cleaning is not too difficult (my hands can fit into the top funnel). Some love the cloth filter, others can't stand it. I havn't tried the glass rod. Maybe I will someday. I wash out the cloth filter assembly after each use, and once away clean with a diluted oxy-clean solution. I just replaced my first filter (4 months). I was just begining to notice the filter was "coloring" my coffee flavor before I changed it. The filter assembly is stainless steel so I store it a little bit of filtered water in the fridge. Piece-o-cake. However, my father-in-law can't believe I go through all that "just for coffee." Ahhh, to each his own I suppose. I'd recommend this as a great way to get started in vacuum brewing. The brewer is cheap, the parts are easily available and if you do break it, it hasn't broken you wallet.
Buying Experience
Has there every been a bad buying experience with Sweet Marias? Ummm, I hate how I have to "wait" for my order to arrive. Why can't I just push purchase and have it magically appear dang it!
