A near replica of the original 'automatic coffee maker' which was first sold in the 1840s, the Royal (and other similar balance brewers) work just like any vacuum brewer, except the action is side to side.

Bottom Line: Not for daily use but rather on special occasions. Nice look and very good smelling and tasting coffee. Stays hot for quite a while in the copper vessel. Very handy spigot, to fill the cups from.
