come in basically 2 sizes: 6 cup and 10 cup.
spun stainless steel tanks with rubber gasket seal. bakelite handle, usually an integrated cover.
can't be broken like a glass silex or cory.
pots are easy to keep clean, throw them into the dishwasher if you want.
can be used on electric or gas cooktop, electric hot plate. needs to be watched a bit though for boil off. not automatic.
metal cap and spring filter is unbreakable, doesn't stall, easy to clean.
replacement gaskets and filters are still available.
Buying Experience
they are regularly available on eBay and at antique shops / resale shops from $5 to $50. be patient, they can be had for under $20 complete.
