Upper globe shape makes it easier to clean than, say, my Silexes. The filter system is headache free. I don‘t have to worry about soaking cloth filters, and my glass filters all too frequently leave the coffee stuck up north! I have found I can quickly cut a substitute paper filter from a regular drip filter, if the need arises.
Negative Product Points
My Nouveau doesn‘t sit perfectly vertical in it‘s stand. This is primarily a problem of asthetics, but it does cause a tiny bit of extra water to stay south.
Detailed Commentary
My S/O bought this from the HarioUSA website, for $109. They upgraded the shipping for free, to get it here before Xmas (even though it was for my b‘day a few weeks later) and even called to let us know they were rushing the order. OUR experience with this company was very positive.
This is a wonderful coffee maker. The coffee is consistently superb, with a clearer, cleaner taste than my Silexes. The speed going north, and south, is quicker than with the Silexes, giving me much more precise control of the brew time. The paper filter makes for an extrordinarily clean cup, with absolutely no sediment.
Of course, it‘s most fun to use with company. They love the show, and are so impressed, by the time it‘s in their cup, they really make an effort to savor the coffee.
