Detailed Commentary
My wife bought two of these on closeout for $20.00 each (one for use, one for spare parts). It's been twenty months since purchase and the brewer works just fine, makes good coffee, although you should not grind the coffee too fine, the brewed coffee in the upper glass globe will not get sucked down into the lower pot in a timely fashon. My wife bought the glass stove top vac pot because our Bodum Electronic Vac pot was in for service.
The best coffee is made with freshly roasted beans with a medium fine grind. The total dwell time for the water in the upper glass globe should not be more than three minutes before switching off the heat and letting the unit do it's vac thing.
I owned an old Pyrex Corningware Vac pot from the 60's. It made great coffee, but sadly, the parts became hard to find and the pot ended up being lost during one of my moves in my college years. Everything that touched the coffee was glass, including the filter portion.
Buying Experience
No info, the wife bought them while buying towels and linens at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
