Mechanically unreliable!! Makes a huge mess. Inconsistant grinding.
Detailed Commentary
I am posting this review because I have experienced 2 problems with this machine that I have not seen anyone else mention.
The vibrating of the machine when grinding can be enough to cause the bin to dislodge resulting in however much coffee you were grinding being sprayed all over your kitchen. This has happened to me 3 times with this machine in 3 months.
Sometimes the grinder will, for no apparent reason, grind twice. I usually fill the hopper in the morning with enough beens for a few press-pots - it's a real pain when the grinder decides to grind 6 cups worth instead of 3. It grinds it's normal 3 cups worht . .and then just starts up again for another 3 - all by itself! This has happened at least 6 times in 3 months.
This is a truly horrible product and nobody should buy it. I really was hoping this would be a decent, cheap grinder for my press-pot uses . . but it isn't that at all . . . it's just a waste of 45 dollars. Even if you can live with the poor grind quality . . . it's just unusable because of engineering defects. It has been such a long time since I have seen such a low quality appliance of any kind . . I have nothing to compare it to. I guess you could say it is the Ford Pinto of coffee grinders.
I think I would raqther use a rolling pin and a towel to grind my beans . . . do not buy this thing.
