I had high hopes; sadly still searching for a good grinder under 400 dollars.
Positive Product Points
Really liked the way it looks. Like the details and the weight of machine. Liked the little glass cup and brush.
Negative Product Points
My machine did not work. It ground the coffee, but it was the same coarness no matter which setting I tried! From french press to espresso--all the same. It would have been fine for me to have only one grind, if only the grind had been espresso-fine instead of dismally coarse.
Detailed Commentary
I don't know how much this grinder cost or where it was bought. I was given this grinder as a birthday gift, by people who had one and were happy with it. Their machine didn't have the same problem as mine did. When they returned mine, the salesperson told them that the store had had quite a few returns due to bad motors. I did not want a replacement machine, as I did not want the hassle of returning it, should it not work. Generally Kitchenaid products are ok. I think I saw another, higher-end Kitchenaid grinder that I might try... This experience has not stopped me from trying other Kitchenaid things, but I don't know if they are the company I would turn to for coffee stuff. I guess I will continue to save up for the Rancillio Rocky.
Buying Experience
As I did not buy the machine I cannot offer a comment here.
