At the high end of whirly-blade grinders for usability and value.
Positive Product Points
Great value. Cubby underneath for storing the cord. Large button that is easy to press. Fast grind.
Negative Product Points
The lid is a little too dark to see the grind. Like most whirly-blade grinders, the grind is uneven.
Detailed Commentary
Confession time: I haven't been grinding for the last few years. I've been buying mystery bin beans and grinding at the store. I got this Cuisinart grinder to support my New Years resolution to go for quality over quantity. It was also on sale.
I do brew. It's what I do. For brew coffee a blade grinder will get you pretty far. The Cuisinart is fast and light. Like most blade grinders it needs a little shake to get the large chunks down to the blade. For the measurement challenged it has some marks on the lid so you can pour in the same amount of beans every time. The lid is shaded plastic making it hard to see the grind, but so far I've been able to tell it's done by the sound. The grinders I've had in the past have taken a long time to grind and required a lot of force on the button. The Cuisinart's button is very easy to work with. I'd have to say I'm very impressed with this grinder, especially for the price.
