The timer is cool. After a little experimentation, it's easy to set it and dump the grounds into a filter without measuring. When it works, it's great.
Negative Product Points
Mine broke after exactly six weeks of very light use.
Detailed Commentary
I use my for a drip pot. (I use a different grinder, a doseless Anfim, for espresso.) Grind is quite consistent, and the coffee was delicious. Then, one day, it just stopped working. E-mail from Baratza indicated I should try removing the housing to check for loose wires. Wires were OK. I mailed the unit back.
At any rate, this is good unit for press pot and drip coffee. I have used it for both. It does not adjust precisely enough for espresso.
Beans can fall into the housing if you're careless when removing the hopper for cleaning.
Buying Experience
I submitted a negative review to this effect at Whole Latte Love, and they did not post it. I asked if I could exchange it for a different unit at Whole Latte Love. They said no. "Even if I use this defective unit to step into a new espresso machine and different grindert?" I asked. Whole Latte Love said to call Baratza for warranty service, for which I had to pay shipping. Similarly crummy experiences may be found at Amazon.com. I bought from WLL because everyone said they were great. They weren't.
