Bottom Line: MESSY,MESSY-Great upgrade from Maestro, but grounds still leak all over and make a mess.
Positive Product Points

Looks exactly like my old Baratza Maestro. Switch is now off and on rather than a timer switch. Grinders look updated. Other than that, unit is identical to old Maestro.

Negative Product Points

When grinding medium roast beans with a setting of 20, the grounds go all over the bottom of machine. Makes a real mess. E-mailed Baratza support and was told by Pierce that I am having a static electricity problem. Reason for purchase was my old Maestro switch gave up the ghost and would only work by plugging and unplugging in electric outlet. Ground same amount of beans in old Maestro and did not have the problem. What now? Have call into Roastmasters to see if I can return Encore for new machine or refund. Support at Baratza does not seem to have the answer for this.

Detailed Commentary

Does a fine job of grinding beans, but the grounds escape the grinder and hopper and cling to the sides of the hopper. Makes a mess everytime I use it. Old Baratza Maestro does not do this and Baratza support has no idea other than telling me to wash hopper and and bean container in warm soapy water. Last e-mail I received from Lance at Baratza said he had no answer for my problem. Reason I purchased Encore was I had very good luck with old Maestro. Lasted for years with minimal trouble etc. The timer switch finally stopped working and gave me a good reason to purchase the new Encore. On the outside, the encore is identical to old Maestro. Hopper etc are interchangeable and looks identical. Lance at Baratza support also said that he replace a customers Encore 3 times and all had the same problem. Guess there is no fix for this problem.

Buying Experience

Other than ordering from Roastmasters on line and getting prompt shipment etc, no comment. Will see how they do when I want to return for a refund.
