The Anfim grinder is a veritable work horse and will be a grinder that will outperform a great many others.
Positive Product Points
This unit is built like a tank. It is small enough to fit under my cabinets. The grind is perfect. I like the click settings for consistency.
Negative Product Points
Doserless model makes the unit a little messy.
Detailed Commentary
I had the Solis and Solis Maestro as a replacement. The SM did not give me a consistent enough grind for my Livia 90. The Anfim Grinder has been excellent. It is a step up from the Solis. Both my wife and I noticed the difference right away. The unit is heavy, and built like a tank. The solid brass(?) threads and hardened steel burrs will last a life time. The unit is extremely simple to use. For my livia I have it set at 7.5. It is extremely consistent on the grind. I get a 28 - 30 second pour all the time. One other thing I noticed is my livia gives me a little longer pre-infusion(?) time with this grinder. It used to take 7 seconds with the solis, now I seem to wait till 10seconds before it starts to drip the magic red-brown crema. The flavor is much closer to the smell of fresh ground coffee (ala Vivace).
The doserless is messy. If you are anyway inclined to a 'neat' and 'orderly' way of life, you might want to go with a doser model. I use a paint brush and coral the left over grounds to the garbage.
The unit fits underneath the cabinets easily. I wish it had a bean stopper as we like to change to decaf in the late afternoon and evening. This is one thing that made the choice between it and the mazzar difficult. I just did not have the funds to spend this year.
Buying Experience
Jim at 1st line. He is always incredible to buy from. I purchased my livia and the Anfim from him at 1st line, and he is extremely nice. I may be buying another espresso maker for our corporate office very soon. Jim will get my business for sure.
