We are LONG TIME COFFEE addicts. Had what we think are the best shots and brew in Europe, Usa, and the World. Our present Espresso setup is the Highly regarded Reneka Professional unit.--Believe it or not....we have been through lots of Brewer experiments and have been sold for decades on our CAREFUL good ole Melita Hand-Pour Ceramic Do-it-by-hand Filter.. We tried this expecting to fail again......but what a suprise!!!----This maker is VERY near The Best from our Old Fashioned Melita method. We have turned the corner and won't go back. Great flavor intensity, aromatics, smoothness. We roast our own (1/2 normal Caf. real small farm Kona and 1/2 high quality Mex Decaf.....so we can drink plenty, and strong....without the Buzziness.)--I grind our home-roast the night before, add the filtered water, hit the pre-program button......and bang....walk into the kitchen the next morning and have high quality toast,jams,cream cheese, and still wonderful coffee......ready to take carafe and everything in a tray for my wife relaxing in bed watching the news....in about only 4 minutes total work time involved now.--Used to take an uncomfortable 15 to 20 min. to heat water....and pour over(and the pain of having to walk back to the kitchen and microwave the 2nd or 3rd cups.- The metal carafe in this baby-keeps the coffee TRUELY very hot for hours....you can wake up late on Saturday.....and the coffee tastes just as fresh and hot- hours after its been brewed. Big winner here for folks picky like us!!!!!!- I wish I could undo the decades of cold.....miserable morning doldrums that making great coffee used to require. Save yourself a hundred hours a year,-and learn to enjoy your mornings again.....98% as good of quality is still very high. -- P.S. Wash out carafe 3 or 4 times to get really clean.
