Incredibly unreliable DISASTER PRONE machine! Thermal carafe design reeks of cheapness and is of dubious usability. Ridiculous, insipid, translation disaster of a manual. Say Goodbye to your clean countertop!
Detailed Commentary
Need a drip machine that wouldn't bake my coffee if I was a hour late getting to it. This one seemed to fill the bill.
When it worked it did fine. Coffee was hot, brewing was really FAST, and it generally lived up to my rather conservative expectations.
When it DIDN'T work it was a bloody DISASTER!! Essentially I had the same "leaking" issue that others encountered. Here is what the problem WAS- Scalding coffee pouring from the filter area and top of the carafe all over our kitchen. Here is what the problem WAS NOT- We did NOT over fill the filter (swiss gold #4- fits very nicely) nor did we grind too fine NOR DID WE MISSEAT the carafe. I was bound and determined to KEEP this machine as I figured whatever was happening MUST have been user error. I played with grind, I played wth quantity, and was NEVER able to isolate the determinant between a perfectly good pot of coffee and one spewed all over the kitchen.
Finally, I really hated the screw top of the carafe. Very uneven pour and silly plastic top piece to keep around to keep sealed. Ugh.
It went back to Amazon and because I was so disgusted (and heard pretty much terrible stories about the quality of service from the importers in LA I figured it was time to cast this away)...
Buying Experience
well, Amazon is easy, but I got popped with a restocking charge 10 days into ownership for a coffeemaker that NEVER functioned properly.
