Detailed Commentary
For the first time in my adult life (at home) I had truly hot coffee. What a pleasure. I know it is sacreligious to drink milk in my coffee- but I need a bit. Normally, my coffee would be way too cool to drink after only a tad of milk was added. I finally have really hot coffee.
We tried stirring the grounds, and not placing the pot on the heater for about 30-60 seconds and it works great. I have not tried the coffee without doing this, but I am sure it is just fine. In addition to the new Technivorm we also bought a Baratza Virtuoso. Between the two- we have perfect cups of drip coffee. I just wish the capacity was a tad greater. After we brew a pot, we immediately put it in a thermal carafe, which works well.
Perhaps Technivorm could have thicker plastic and tighter fits for the coffee lids, but this is just my pet peeve. The Moccamaster is pretty tall, and when we renovate the kitchen, I will have to put it on a pretty tall shelf to have full access while filling up- but again, it's workable.

Three Month Followup
Everything is still perfect. Great, hot, tasty coffee. We still stir the grinds, while the water is dripping- all part of the ritual! I would not hesitate to recommend the Technivorm.
