I purchased this machine last February after reading the reviews here. I was very pleased with a machine that (finally) brewed hot coffee. It's also a very nice looking machine and so streamlined, it takes up a smaller footprint on the counter.
Negative Product Points
This product broke down completely twice in less than 10 months. If you buy it, be sure to purchase at Costco so you can return it for a refund when it breaks.
I had a few occasions when, while pouring water into the machine, the hatch to the water reservoir shut itself, ending with water pouring onto the counter. Holding the door open with my other hand was the only solution.
Detailed Commentary
I bought this machine to replace a very expensive Capresso that made coffee only slightly warmer than lukewarm. I was tickled to find something so reasonably priced that would actually make coffee at the right temperature.
I liked the look of the machine too and the fact that it was so compactly made and took up a smaller space on my counter.
I bought the machine at costco.com because our local Costco didn't have it in stock. Less than two months after receiving it, however, it would no longer turn on. I sent it back to Presto to fix or replace - it appears I was sent a replacement.
In early December, the machine broke again. As before, it simply wouldn't turn on, either by pushing the on button or by setting the timer. This time I returned it to Costco and bought a different coffeemaker.
The carafe is fairly flimsy and difficult to clean. It doesn't drip when pouring. The brew pause never worked on the replacement machine. The clock was impossible to see, but I seldom used the automatic brewing feature so that wasn't a big issue for me.
While I loved the fact that this coffeemaker made hot coffee, there were too many other things I disliked. It's very difficult to wash the narrow-necked carafe. The water hatch is very awkwardly designed. And, of course, I'd prefer a machine that holds up longer than a few months.
Buying Experience
I purchased at costco.com and had no problems. The machine was returned to the local Costco store and I received a full refund of the purchase price and shipping with no problem at all. (I had saved the box and receipt, but Costco will take returns without either.) I see that one other reviewer says he has had his machine for too long to return it to Costco. That's not true - Costco will take returns on any item purchased from them no matter how long ago that occurred.
Customer service at Presto was also good. I had no problems getting the machine replaced when it broke the first time. I did have to insist that they send a shipping label so that I wouldn't have to pay to send the coffeemaker to their repair facility.
