Positive Product Points
Thermal carafe keeps coffee hot for hours. Makes an excellent cup everytime. Easy to fill water reservoir. Programmable.
Negative Product Points
This machine beeps extremely loud twice during the brewing process. Also doesn't come with a permanent filter. Oster could improve on the carafe for pouring the coffee as it is a rather slow process. And a huge amount of steam comes out during the brewing process which may or may not be normal.
Detailed Commentary
Overall I have been very pleased with this machine thus far. I like that I can fill the water reservoir with ease and can choose whether or not I want strong or regular strength coffee. I don't use the programmable feature as I prefer to freshly grind my beans prior to each use... but it is a nice feature if you use pre-ground coffee.
As I mentioned in the negative product points section, this machine alerts you rather loudly 5 times after it finishes brewing, then it proceeds to beep loudly another 3 times after 2 hours to remind you that your coffee is no longer deemed "fresh". I purposely bought a thermal coffeemaker so that I could have my coffee sitting around for longer periods of time without over cooking it so I feel alerting me that it is no longer fresh is an annoying feature.
The coffee always tastes great from this machine but keep in mind that a "cup" is only 5 oz with this particular model: 7991-33. This brews 10-5oz cups of coffee which is more than enough for my personal use. I tested this machine to see how long it would keep a full pot steaming hot. The finished product was 170 degrees and after 8 hours was still drinkable. I left the pot overnight and it was still warm in the morning which surprised me.
Buying Experience
Purchased in the rush of the Christmas season so didn't really get any customer service to speak of. Just pulled off the shelf and paid for it.
