Needs uncommon filter paper. Wish it turned off automatically. A bit difficult to empty the filter/grounds from the handle.
Detailed Commentary
My wife and I like this coffee maker a LOT. We've been using a French Press for years and before that the usual "Mr. Coffee" type machines. We did several blind tastings between this unit and our French Press and the results were very clear - this machine produces better coffee. It works best with a rather fine grind (coarser than espresso but not by a lot). The taste is full and rich. It was actually shocking how good it is, whether I'm using regular or decaff beans. We both like strong coffees so I've predominantly been preparing French Roasts with it but the few mid-range roasts I've made have been excellent as well. The unit is very simple in construction and so I'm hopeful that it'll be operating well for a long time.
Once the coffee is made it's a tiny bit inconvenient to empty the filter and old grinds - it tends to stick to the handle. Very minor point and if you empty immediately it's much easier than if you let the grinds sit.
Buying Experience
Excellent, as is the usual case with Williams Sonoma.
