Detailed Commentary

I didn't need anything fancy. There were 3 things that were important to me. A good insulated carafe that retains heat for a long time - I don't like hot plates that burn the coffee. I also want brewing temps in the 200 degree range and a quick brew time - this coffee maker qualifies on all three.  I took a chance on this unit because I found it on sale for less than most companies are charging for a good carafe and that included a gold tone filter.

I'm getting the full 10 cups in approximately 7 minutes. This is just about right for a real good brewing time. Much longer and the coffee starts getting bitter.  I preheat the carafe with some warm water and usually drink the pot over a period of about 4 hours. It stays plenty hot for that time frame and the coffee tastes fresh the whole time.

I've used many different coffee makers - some good, some bad. This is one of the better ones.  I also frequently use a French press, which I love. The advantage to this Krups, is consistency and the greater removal of fine grounds. The taste and temperature is very similar to that of my French press. My last couple coffee makers didn't come close to this quality of taste.

Buying Experience

Purchased locally.
