Buyer beware, warranty not honored for Canadian consumer units purchased at Canadian Starbucks.

8 months after purchase from a Canadian Starbucks I found out that Hamitlon Beach/Proctor Silex Canada will NOT honor their 3 year warranty. Starbucks Canada, Hamilton Beach USA say it should be, but Hamilton Beach Canada refuses, stating the unit has to be returned to the Starbucks where I purchased it. The Starbucks I purchased it from referred me to Starbucks Warranty Services who referred me back to Hamilton Beach. After a week still no resolution.
Detailed Commentary
8 months after purchasing a Hamilton Beach Model 40211 Series A0970E from a Canadian Starbucks the unit decided to stop brewing. You turn it on and nothing happens. The water does not heat the pump does not work. Unit is descaled monthly. In calling Hamilton Beach 1-800-267-2826 in Canada I found out that Hamitlon Beach/Proctor Silex Canada will NOT honor their 3 year warranty and that I should take the unit back to the Starbucks I purchased it from. In doing so I was told to call the Starbucks Warranty Services 1-800-334-5553 and was told that Starbucks had Hamilton Beach make the A0970E series exclusively for Starbucks in Canada and the U.S. and that it us under a three year warranty - repair or replace with same product or equivalent. Hamilton Beach Canada states that Starbucks took it upon themselves to ship the Series A0970E models into Canada. Yet all documentation that comes with the unit seems to dictate otherwise, including the box I received the unit has a shipping label from Hamilton Beach USA to a Starbucks Canada distribution centre. So far I have only been offered the inferior 40110 glass carafe model, from Hamilton Beach, which sells for 1/2 the price of a 40211 metal carafe. No mention of providing me with an additional refund for the price difference. Told Hamilton Beach to find a replacement Series A0970E model. If they have to, take the one from Michael J. Morecroft's board room. Never had so much problem with a company honoring a warranty for a product sold in Canada and the U.S.
