Revolutionary user interface. Good, but not incredible, coffee. Reliability could be little higher.
Positive Product Points
One handed payout, warmer doesn't burn or evaporate coffee, reduced chance of accidents, internal filter option. Great customer support.
Negative Product Points
Plastic caraffe stains easily, product reliability, On second unit.
Detailed Commentary
Love the convenience. I've got the 'basic' model - No timer - Which started to dribble sometime after the first year or so of use. When I called HB about replacing the washer/valve, they requested I send the whole unit in. The unit I sent in had a smaller washer/valve, made of off-white rubber-like substance. The unit they replaced it with has a larger yellow foamish washer/valve, and has not had any problems. (They also sent along a spare washer/valve, but it hasen't been needed yet.
The second unit suffered 'brain death' (Where the pushbutton on the front refused to respond), and I eventually replaced the pushbutton and timing circuitry with a pair of SPST toggle switches, one to control the boiling coil, the other for the warming plate. Haven't had any problems with it since then, and the coffee warming plate stays on as long as I want it to. :)
The plastic holding caraffe picks up coffee stains, of course. I've found that a 'Magic Sponge' makes fairly quick work of them. Be sure to rinse thoroughly and repeatedly afterwards, per Magic Sponge instructions.
Buying Experience
It was Target. At least I didn't get mugged.
Three Month Followup
Stains are now no longer susceptible to overnight bleach soaking or Miracle sponges. :(
One Year Followup
Gone now, not missing it - It worked right up until I moved.
