Detailed Commentary
This coffeemaker is an expensive piece of junk. Made of shiny metal it looks good on the countertop, but unless you like your coffee lukewarm you will be packing it up. Carafe poured poorly, but seemed to maintain temperature okay, the machine just never got it hot enough. Hinge mechanism for the lid is made of cheap plastic and broke. Overall the operation is straight forward and directions well-written (if you need them). We pulled out our cheap Mr. Coffee from storage to replace it after a couple of months.
Buying Experience
I bought the coffeemaker from our local Starbucks, and the service was excellent. Recently I decided to dispose of it but decided I'd take it back instead, just in case they could do something with it. I did not have my receipt and by that time had had the machine for about a year. They took back the machine no questions asked and credited my credit card for the full current price of the coffeemaker. I was going to go on-line to replace it with something else, but decided that would be rather foolish because where can you get better sevice than that! I got a Hamilton Beach Electrics to replace it, and although it's not as good as my Chemex it's quick and easy to use, and so far seems good. At least the coffee is hot!
