Bottom Line: Great middle of the road no fuss machine with nice features.  It'd be improved if it had a battery backup for the brewing clock.
Positive Product Points

Aesthetically pleasing.
Grinds completely.  No beans left in the grind module.  Good aerodynamics.
Easy to clean.
Produces consistent tasty coffee.

Negative Product Points

Sometimes difficult to clean during the 4 times a year it needs a serious wiping out.
Door sometimes doesn't latch properly on filter tray.  This makes a huge mess if you don't catch it.
Sometimes I forgot to drink all the coffee and if someone else brews on top of it... huge mess. (only negative because you can't see through a thermal carafe.  Not really the product's fault)

Detailed Commentary

I bought this product because I am a techno geek and I loved the all-in-one nature of it.  I quickly stopped using the gold-tone filter and started using leftover paper filters because I didn't appreciate the oilyness that gold-tone filtered coffee has.  The problems many have with this machine is ease of cleaning.  I know it may be blasphemy to some, but the carafe, lid, filter basket, filter basket lid, and grinder all lift out and pop straight into the dishwasher.  The only thing to clean is the back wall behind the carafe, the space in between the grinder chute and the motor spindle (it gets a coffee tar on it that I wipe away every 4 months), and some of the crevices in the filter basket hinge area (and back wall).  The unit has a spot for a water filter which is nice and easy to remove.  The only issue I had was solved by being careful; that of the filter basket not latching completely and popping open in the middle of brewing or grinding.  Just close purposefully and give a gentle tug to see that it doesn't pop open again.  The other complaint people have is with grind size (it's not an espresso grinder folks... it's drip), coffee strength, and temperature.  Call me weird but I hate when coffee is too hot to drink and I don't like strong coffee unless it's the really fine Italian espresso that can be very strong without being bitter, tarry, acidic, or oily.  I brew a full 10 cups with an 85% ratio.  Use 8.5 scoops (included scoop) of beans or ground coffee per cup marker.  This machine does very well with Trader Joe's Piņon coffee and their 100% Kona.  So it does its job and does it well.  I have never noticed the hot plate burning our coffee either as it shuts off after brewing.  Coffee is good for 24-48 hours, but only hot-ish for 3-4.  It is still warm for longer than that which is fine with me as hot coffee just makes me suck it through my teeth in order to not burn my mouth.

Buying Experience

Click... type... click... product arrives.  Not much to say.
