Detailed Commentary
Starting with a Mr Coffee in my college days, I tried a few other low cost consumer pots over the years. Of course I also ventured out to try a classic pour over and even a french press. They all just made coffee, and some were more trouble then they were worth.
Based soley on the positive reviews on this site, I purchased this Cuisinart dc-1200 (and an equally fine Capresso Infinity burr grinder). For me, this is a dream machine and a great value at $55. Ultra hot water temps bring out the flavor of the bean and the adjustable temperature control for the hot plate, keeps your coffee hot without cooking it.
Several comments about it being hard to fill the water reservoir nearly scared me off; but it is really very easy to fill. The real issue is that this is a 14 inch tall machine and if you place it on the standard 36 inch high kitchen counter, the fill is at 4 feet - 2 inches. Now if your height is 5-1, it is going to be harder to see and reach the filler opening under the lid. At a lofty 6-0, I didn't even notice it, until I watched a house guest on her tip toes.
This is a fully functional and good looking coffee maker at an every day price. I am 100% satisfied. Thank you to all the previous reviewers who helped me make a good choice. :) GW
