Detailed Commentary

When our Bodum Santos electric vaccum coffee maker went on the fritz (again!  the heating element died for the 4th time) we sent it back (within our 2 year warranty) and asked for a credit of our purchase price.  I spent some time on this site reviewing the vast array of products reviewd on this site and fell in love with the design of the Chemex Handblown 13 Cup Coffee Maker.  We waited anxiously for about a week, using a large Sun Beam perculator for the week it took to ship the Chemex.  We are still learning how to brew the perfect (to us) pot of coffee... the anticipation of the first cup from the thing was great.  The Bodum Santos always left behind a gritty residue, but the filtering process of the Chemex has now made that a thing of the past... no matter how strong we make it or fine we grind the coffee.  We are 100% impressed and have recommended this product to our friends and family... it just might not be what they are looking for as there are no moving parts!

Buying Experience

We bought this coffee maker direct from Chemex.  Their website and the oneline ordering process is functional... we did not need to contact them as the shipment took less than 5 business days.  They took great care in packaging... nothing was broken.
