This is a great easy machine to use, however you must understand how it works: The # of cups selected is actually the grind time/quantity of coffee to the brew basket. The 2-4 switch provides a slightly warmer water temp for small batches (to compensate for the fast temp drop in the basket). As the # cups goes up, the machine becomes more efficient. My coffee of choice is a very dark and very oily bean. I use the fine grind setting, Capresso recommends not to use this setting on such beans, however I use the machine every day, and have not had a problem.
To make a great strong cup of coffee:
For 1 mug - just under 2 cups of cold water, set the grind to fine, select "6" cups, select strong coffee, select 2-4 "on" & GO!
For 2 mugs - just under 4 cups of cold water, set the grind to fine, select "10" cups, select strong coffee, select 2-4 "on" & GO!
For Full pot - 1 coffee pot of cold water, set the grind to fine, select "10" cups, select strong coffee, select 2-4 "OFF" & GO! (This pot will not be as strong, but not by much!) |
