Detailed Commentary
My particular coffee maker is about six or so years old. It's still pumping out good coffee and looks somewhat new. (chalk it up to good engineering)
-Build quality- Although the plastics on this machine are somewhat flimsy, they are efficient and sturdy. There aren't many gaps between moving parts, even after the constant temperature fluctuations associated with coffee makers. The filter basket pops out of its locked position with a positive notchy feel, and the carafe slides in and out with little effort. The power switch has a quality feel to it as well, and has yet to short out.
-Brewing properties- I measured the water temperature out of the drip holes and found it to be a fairly decent 92.2C. The filter is cone type and works well, with overflow protection and the ability to hold the flow to the carafe for up to 25 seconds. Perhaps the best thing about this machine is that it can support serving as little as 2 cups to as much as 10 cups without a noticeable change in quality. I've tried both amounts and the difference in taste is small.
-Disassembly- The filter basket pops out in two movements (swing out and then lift up).
-Durability- Over the course of my machines life, there have been no broken carafes, no broken parts, and no degredation of coffee quality. Everything holds up well. There are no stains anywhere, and no noticeable high-wear areas. The filter basket has a lot of moving parts, but all seem to be fully functional. The only area that seems to have been affected is the very top panel covering the water spigot. The plastic has deformed a little due to the hot water constantly passing underneath it.
