Nice home superauto for techies capable of self-repair, therefore not recommended for general public.
Positive Product Points
Ease of use and cleaning. Aesthetics. Reservoir volume. Speed. Compact geometry. Brews ARE consistent once calibrations for volume, grind, etc are optimized for chosen beans.
Negative Product Points
Pushbutton lights difficult to see in bright lighting; perforated reservoir cannot be filled fully; front door flimsy; durability of components. Weak operation in preground (bypass) mode.
Steam valve burst within first year...acknowledged by supplier as a weak component; I replaced myself. Grinder calibration mechanism failed, requiring self-repair. Steam valve switch failure in 2nd year, resulting in intermittent steam operation; self-repair not completely successful. Water valve solenoid actuator tip continually popped off, requiring creative repair (supergluing). If I wan't a mechanic and decent tech this Palazzo would've required 4 laborious service attempts, perhaps requiring shipping unit to West Coast? Phew! Plastic brew group is otherwise holding up, but I've not fully disassembled base to check condition of internal electricals and metalware. Cannot recommend purchase to non-techs, as long-term operation has not been sufficiently reliable, and self-repair requires care in not breaking plastic casework and subassemblies. This is a very cleverly designed product with impressive mechanical plasticware, but reliability and durability are very suspect. As I only make 2-3 cups/day I would expect product life exceeding a decade, but won't be surprised if it lasts only 1/2 that. When the Palazzo works it's great...convenient, fast, modern. Importer's service knowledge has steadily improved as product life matures. Hope to not need additional parts too often!
Aarbree in-house very short term trial unit, sold by friendly employee. Subsequent contact for service quickly referred out to importer only.
