Detailed Commentary
Impossible to get an accurate shot as far as timing and volume go because of the electronic water delivery. You basically just have to get your tamp right, then keep hitting the button to turn it on longer till you get your 1 to 1-1/2 oz. shot, which I know is totally NOT the way the thing was designed to work.
Crema is REALLY UGLY, with big bubbles, uneven over the top. This is from the crema- enhancing (hah!) basket. The non-crema enhancing basket was not much better, though a little bit better.
Water is not as hot as it should be, and even when the portafilter, cup etc are preheated the shot is not hot. The taste is pretty good though, so if you are only doing cappucinos, lattes etc. it would be ok. I would be embarrassed to serve espresso to someone who was an experienced drinker because of the temp and the look of the crema.
