A cheap, no-fuss high quality machine for baristas to newbies.
Positive Product Points
- Rancilio's one group head for all means you're working with the same head as a 4 group commercial - Very high quality thermostat allows for good utilising of steam and group head - Compact and portable - Can leave it going for ages with no problems (within reason) - Easy to clean and relatively cheap to service - Unbelievably easy to use
Negative Product Points
- The drip tray is the only thing that frustrates me, as it causes a lot of splash back. After research, you can have the standard tray cut out and get a S/S mesh (similar to Domobar) put in for around $40NZ - Water tank could be a little bigger for my liking
Detailed Commentary
This is a great machine for any newbie, or anyone wanting to upgrade from a cheaper 'i got this (insert name of cheap machine here) as a present for fathers day' coffee machine. I find that the size and capability of this little beast is very very good.
The dual thermostat in the boiler enables very good utilisation of both the steaming wand and the group head. The steam pressure is absolutely impressive when put up against the likes of the Via Venezia and Cubika's. With the purging process being a breeze, you will never be let down by the shots you can produce.
Buying Experience
Coffee Creations, Glenfield Westfield, North Shore City, NZ:
With the sale of the machine they were great! A basic demonstration before purchase, then a 30-45min demo/lesson after purchase with the added extra of a possible in-home demo if needed. They give all the info needed and gave good comparisons, not only with machines that it is better than, but machines that are more expensive. It was good as it was known how to do everything from priming to cleaning before it was taken home. I recieved the machine roughly 4min after purchase.
