Detailed Commentary

i bought the oscar after owning a silvia.  i was able to brew much better shots with the oscar than i did with the silvia.

i leave the machine on 24/7 so it's always ready to go.  no false pressure venting required.

i had one of the portafilters converted to bottomless.   viewing the pour gives immediate feedback on grind, distribution and tamping technique.  great learning tool.

i have improved my technique to where i get pretty consistent shots and the occasional god shot.  very rare sink shot.

although i hardly ever make a milk drink, when i experimented with milk steaming, the oscar seemed to do a fine job.

i don't mind the plastic shell.  i think that it has a very functional look and is low maintenance.  i appreciate the fast clean-up.

for the price it's hard to beat the oscar.

after five yearsof use, i disassembled the machine, cleaned all of the copper parts, replaced rubber hoses, boiler insulation and over pressure valve.  it needed it.  now it's like new.

i sold the machine and bought a mini vivaldi ii.  also a great machine.

Buying Experience

roberto, ceo of  nuova simonelli usa, convinced me to buy this machine instead of the more expensive machine i called to ask about. i don't regret following his advice. tech support people were very patient and helpful in answering my many questions.

Three Month Followup

technique and shots are getting better

One Year Followup

still getting better
