Great introductory pump machine to break into the world of espresso.
Positive Product Points
Great value for the money. Easy to use and makes a pretty good shot of espresso.
Negative Product Points
Take off the perfect froth attachment and use the steam wand by itself. Be sure to purge the wand before and after steaming or frothing.
Detailed Commentary
After taking my wife to one of the local coffeehouses, my wife and I decided to purchase an espresso machine to use at home. I originally purchased a Delonghi machine but had to return it because it leaked from the time I first used it. As a replacement, I decided to purchase a Krups Gusto pump machine and have been very pleased with it. As a beginner in making our own espresso-based specialty drinks, I've found the Krups machine easy to set up and use. It makes a good shot of espresso with decent crema and steams milk to a proper temperature relatively quickly. We usually make latte drinks and iced coffee drinks so frothing milk is not that important to me at this time. I did find it better to remove the perfect froth attachment for steaming and frothing milk and it's important to purge the steam wand before steaming milk in order to keep it from being watered down. I work for a large private coffee manufacturer, so I'm able to experiment with different blends and grinds and have found that grind is very important with this machine. This machine doesn't need a fine, powdery grind to produce a good shot. Just take the time to read the instructions for this machine and you'll be on your way in no time to experience first-hand the world of espresso-based drinks.
Buying Experience
I replaced a defective Delonghi machine with this product.
