if you've never considered a fully automatic machine before, this could be one to start with
Positive Product Points
great fully automatic machine at a very reasonable price
Negative Product Points
plastic casing - but at this price i'm not complaining.
Detailed Commentary
my 12 year old gaggia classic having finally succumbed, i was looking around for a replacement when i came across this machine for very little more money. the coffee snobs seem to prefer semi automatic machines, but i've found this one produces just as good an espresso as the classic (i don't use the steamer), with the added advantage of freshly ground beans.
the option to bypass the grinder and use ground coffee is also welcome, for the odd late night decaff.
the boiler is steel, unlike my old classic (it was the alumimium boiler which finally went), so should be easier maintenance. the brew group is easy to clean, and in fact the whole machine is easier to operate than any semi automatic.
the repeat time between espressos is also much shorter, so it's great for multiple cups. there's even a double shot programme, so you can produce 2 cups by simply pressing the button twice.
Buying Experience
i bought an ex demo model (hence the price), which arrived promptly and undamaged, in as new condition, from ebay supplier coffeecortes. they provided an excellent product and service, 12 month warranty and even ship free within europe.
