The instruction book worthlesst. Excellent article on net by Daniel Ho ("How to use the La Pavoni Professional Espresso Machine") gives detailed and meaningful instructions. Note: this machine is basically the same as the Gaggia. Throw away the tamper & the single shot strainer, both useless. Buy a 52mm tamper that fits inside the basket or your tamp will never be right.

If you enjoy a challenge and the thrill of victory this machine will make you very happy! I just love the looks of this baby and the price was well within my budget. Quality, this is a BMW, looks great and built to last. Please, the best things in life are never easy and neither is making great espresso, but with a little practice you will know the joy of success and the taste of what quality espresso is all about. Forget the grind process for now pick up some illy pre-ground espresso coffee and learn how to tamp and pull first. Grinding adds another dimension to your enjoyment and understanding of espresso. Just wait till you start sampling the vast assortment of beans to find your favorite blend. The more you put into this art the better it and you become. Hey I'm not a lattejunkie for nothing!
