Detailed Commentary

This machine will probably not suit a coffee snob, but for the great majority of coffee drinkers it is superb.  I have owned mine for over 4 years.  In that times it has made consistently good espresso and has very reliable.  The basket seal needed replacing last month and has been the only thing needing doing.

We make 4-5 cups of espresso per day: short blacks and lattes and are very happy with the quality of the end result.  the coffee is as good as you get in 95% cafes - and you don't have to drink out of horrid plastic or cardboard cups!

If you're really anal about your coffee don't buy this machine.  The grind needs to be slightly coarser than you'd optimally use and the flow rate is faster than you'd want for a top shot.  But then this machine is not serving that segment of the marketplace.

For everyone else, remember it is a manual machine so turning off the flow at the right time is critical and I suspect running the water for too long has lead to the bitter coffee other mentioned in reviews.  The frothing attachment is a little to aggressive when super clean - it is best to michael the milk for a few seconds first - but after a little usage it settles down

Buying Experience

Briscoes is an A1 retailer in New Zealand.
