Relatively small drip tray Small water reservoir
My espresso history in brief, then onto the Rocket. Pasquini Liva 90 was my first machine. Then somewhat of a lateral/upward move to the Quick Mill Silvano. Anfim Milano grinder. Lack of counter space in all three dimensions has limited my choices. Simultaneously I dream of moving up the food chain to higher end semi-pro equipment. So footprint and design lead me to the Rocket Cellini v3. Although still a ways from top-of-the-line, it's a great machine that delivers on the basics: Consistently good pulls, quick steaming, micro-foam capable.
From the get-go Rocket is impressive. The packaging has the kind of attention to detail that one sees with Apple products and few others. From there, it just gets better. It is just a beautiful machine: Clean lines, perfect manufacturing and assembly. It has a kind of old school simplicity. The PID is hidden behind the drip tray which keeps that look intact. Complete instructions plus a video, all-in-all much better than most hardware purchases of any kind.
Purchased this 6 months ago so from memory I recall it took 2 or 3 pulls, adjusting for grind, then perfection. Steaming had much more of a learning curve. If you're familiar with the Silvano, Rocket is rapid by comparison. So itís an adjustment from taking almost a minute to steam to less than half that time. Rocket Cellini is not plumbed so requires frequent refilling if more than two people are using it consistently. Same goes for the drip tray. Water tank is easily accessible. Although Iíve read that vibratory pumps may seem load I really only noticed it when the machine is turned on.
The true test came this past Thanksgiving. Seventeen people over. When I offered to make lattes, 15 said yes. Well it went pretty well. Made them as quick as any coffee house, half were great and the balance were average due to my short comings.
Bottom line: Gorgeous machine that packs a punch.
Specs: Boiler and group pressure gauges. Low water sensor. PID for boiler temp to control steam temp. Drip tray: stainless steel, holds 16 ounces of water. Stainless steel no burn steam arm with two hole steam tip. 2.9 liter water reservoir. Vibratory pump.
Second purchase experience from Chris' Coffee was as smooth and trouble free as the first. Had a couple of questions early on and were answered quickly.
