The Silvia was great, owned it for 5 years, no trouble. Except if I wanted to make more than 2 or 3 cappuccinos at a time, and I kept the reservoir filled, and sediment resulted.
The S-1 blows the Silvia away! Unbelievable crema! Endless steam for frothing. AND, no reservoir. A simple water hook up (with a filter) and its always ready to go! I am now making cappucinos in the morning as well as evening. It has enhanced our coffee experience, and compared to a single boiler machine, is in my opinion both easier to use, and produces better results.

It has enhanced our coffee experience, and compared to a single boiler machine, is in my opinion both easier to use, and produces better results. I fire it up in the morning, and make a cappuccino for me and my wife before leaving for work. I take mine in a travel mug. I then turn it off, and on again when I return in the evening. Then esspressos, cappuccinos for us and our neighbors. Our kitchen has turned into a local coffee house for our friends, and I never have to worry about running out of steam, or water!
Buying Experience
Chris Coffee Service is wonderful. I was able to pick my machine up at their operation near Albany, NY while in the area. Quite a business. They have a display area where all the machines they sell can be TRIED! It was great to compare the S-1 to some other machines in the same price category. Chris Coffee has a huge warehouse with stock on the machines, as well as an on -site service department which helped me with some installation ideas. All in all, my BEST coffe experience, and I highly recommned both the S-1 and Chris Coffee Service.
