Bottom Line: A fine machine that doesn't only produce great coffee, it does so in style.
Positive Product Points

+ Consistently makes great espresso with little effort (in terms of user error tolerance)
+ Very good steaming capability
+ Steam and hot water switches are a breeze to use
+ The lever action adds to the experience

Negative Product Points

- Some parts don't feel too solid
- The vibe pump is a bit noisy
- Less suited for the physically challenged
- Cheap tamper included (but that's almost a rule, no exception)

Detailed Commentary

Before I had the Strega, a second hand Rancilio Silvia (2nd gen) got me hooked on getting the most out of my daily cup.

I use the Strega with a second hand Compak k6 with a new set of burrs. (Used it with the Silvia as well)

My shots from the Silvia were hit and miss. The Strega is far more forgiving and the worst shots i've had so far are on par with the best ones I had from the Silvia.

I'm able to produce super smooth, sweet espressos that are much easier on the stomach. My first shot on this machine was a true god shot and I haven't been disappointed since.

It's a very capable steamer too. I didn't bother too much with cappuccinos on my Silvia, but with the Strega it's a breeze and i'll happily serve my guests and girlfriend cappuccinos now.

I wasn't too impressed with the finish on some of the components, (handles for portafilter and lever, lever joint cover, steam switches) but the overall build quality is good.

It's a tad bit noisier than the Silvia when the pump enables, but that's no problem for me.

Using the lever requires a bit of practise and strength. My 160cm girlfriend has a bit of difficulty wrestling it. :)

Buying Experience

I picked it up at Duikelman without any problems. They gave me descaling advice, carried it to my car and included a very nice tamper for free.

Three Month Followup

Still very happy with the machine. The steam is a bit wet, but that might be resolved with some tweaking. Wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.
