The roaster was very consistent and worked well........while it worked. It was used to roast a few different types of beans. You have to figure out the timing for each type of bean but once you do, it will roast them consistently. Low smoke output. Great for indoor use.
Negative Product Points
The product failed aft about 18 months of use. I sent it in for repair and was told that it would cost $95 plus shipping and handling to fix it. They wanted to replace the entire bottom portion of the unit.
Detailed Commentary
After 12 months, it started shutting itself off in mid-cycle and resetting itself as if I had pulled the plug. I muttled along with this by babysitting it while it was roasting and using a seperate timer. Then at about 14 months it stopped shutting itself off and would continue roasting indefinately. I put up with this for 4 more months and then sent it in for repair. I am unwilling to pay the repair price of $95 plus shipping and handling so now I'm looking for a better roaster. I like that it didn't create much smoke. It worked well while it was working. The coffee produced was great. I just wish it were more durable. I'm looking for one that I can use to produce about a pound of coffee a week and that will last for more than a year. By the time I calculate what it would cost to replace it annually, I can purchase roasted beens from a local shop that does their own for about the same price.
Buying Experience
If you plan to buy a new roaster every year, then this is the one for you. It does roast consistently when it is working properly and turns out some great coffee. As for durability and repair costs, I wouldn't recommend it.
