Detailed Commentary
Got this bad boy as a free gift from the Starbucks folks for a problem I had with their grinder, and the subsequent (1 month) wait I had to endure for a replacement. It retails for $25 from Starbucks (with their logo on it) or $27 from Tom at www.sweetmarias.com without any stinkin' logo.
My previous thermal coffee holder really stank in more ways than one (oooo boy, wait till I review that piece o crap!!!)... it didn't hold heat very well, retained really bad smells because of the poor engineering it had (far too much plastic and rubber in contact with the beverages) and was big and bulky.
The TuffSlim is like a giant bullet. Very sleek, very small, can fit in a small briefcase or even a large purse. And it's built well enough that I trust it beside my notebook computer in my small fitted case for said computer - in other words, no leaks.
The screwtop is ingenious in design - total push button action, and if you forget to seal it before screwing on the top outer cap / cup, the cup will auto close the valve, making it liquid-tight automatically. Nifty design.
This thing holds it's temp well. I'd brew some coffee in the morning, pour it in, seal it up, and that evening if I forgot about it, the coffee inside is still above 170F. Not too shabby.
Overall, a good efficient thermal carafe device and I'd recommend this model by Zojirushi, and if any of their other thermos devices are similar in design and efficiency, I'd recommend them too!
