Bottom Line: great Australian made tamper, will make a huge difference, even for a n00b!
Positive Product Points
  • Custom fit to basket
  • markings around base provide great visual reference
  • beautifully turned Red Gum handle'
  • perfectly weighted and machined base
Negative Product Points
  • now that I can get a consistent and even tamp, time to lock down  the other variables. Means I need a grinder, and entirely more expensive proposition!
Detailed Commentary

wow, what an awesome tamper. after only recently embarking on the home espresso path, it seemed clear to me that the first and most affordable item i needed to upgrade was my tamper. The plastic piece of junk supplied with my machine just wasn't doing the business so I did some research on Australian made products and turned up the Pullman Tamper from Adelaide in South Australia

While the website offers a wide variety of options in terms of tampers sized to match various machines, I took the option of sending my basket off to Greg and having him machine a tamper to fit the basket perfectly. While this meant being with out my double basket, the service was so quick that I wasn't really without it for more than 3 or 4 working days.

It was certainly worth it, as the tamper fits the basket perfectly and as a result can create an even tamp all the way to the edge of the basket with no trouble at all. The smooth wooden handle fits snugly into my hand and the metal base feels perfectly weighted to me and makes tamping a breeze.

While its still early days for me, even my first shot using the new tamper was noticeably better than what I had produced so far.

Buying Experience

Just excellent. Greg answers all questions promptly and offers a speedy service. Will happily buy again when I inevitably upgrade my espresso machine.
