Detailed Commentary

Cost $20 from espressosupply.com. I bought this tamper and really like it. It has a good heft and size to it, and the shape facilitates very good tamping in a La Marzocco filter basket.

I was going to buy the Reg Barber tamper from Reg himself, but he quoted me a price that was higher than the exchange rate (and more than double the cost of this tamper), so I decided not to go that route. This unit from Espresso Supply is lathe produced as well (or CnC'ed) and is so well balanced and cut, it can spin without any horizontal movement for quite a long time on the counter. I'd recommend it to anyone with a 58mm basket.

Features a flat bottom, so for those of you not wanting to go the route of Dave Schomer's new rounded ergo tamper, or the Reg Barber cost is a bit much, consider this one.
