Detailed Commentary
I got one of these along with the Nespresso machine that my mother goot me for my birthday two years ago. I'm extremely happy with the machine and I was happy with this frother until it broke down a few months ago. Both came with a two year warranty.
The first time it broke down a few days short of a year the telephone assistance guy was very helpful in giving me details as to why the machine would continue to heat the milk but no longer spin the little magnetic attachment to stir/froth the milk. After explaining it to me he told me they would replace it with a new one within 46 hours.
It turns out I had to fill the milk all the way to the line indicated on the inside of the frother otherwise the device would overheat. I knew about this line but did not know I had to fill it to the line everytime, I simply thought it was an indicator for the maximum amount of milk to put in the device. The reason I did not fill it all the way to the line is that the Nespresso machine puts out 40ml of "espresso" for each shot and the amount of milk required to fill the line would have diluted the coffee too much for my taste and throwing out the extra milk everytime would have been wasteful and irresponsible.
After I got the new device, I used it as directed, filling the milk up to the line (i drank the spare milk as not to waste it) and being very careful with it but still it failed after only four months and three days. I called up again but was told they can only replace it once. I reminded them I was still within the two year warranty period but all they could do was replace the little magnetic attachments. I told the guy it the magnetic attachments were fine and asked if they could reconsider being that I was still within the two year warranty period and that it was ridiculous for a brand new product, being used as it was intended to fail after only four months but the best he could come up with was to promise to ask his boss.
I did not bother pursuing it any further, I got myself a moka pot and i'm going to microwave my milk and get one of those hand held frothers you can get for around 7USD which will probably last longer. I liked this frother but it was overpriced and I do not support any brand that does not stand behind their product or warranty.
