Detailed Commentary
I have recently purchased a Silvia and was thinking about a knock box but most of the choices seemed a little on the large side (and expensive). After reading the CG review on the Grindenstein, I immediately went looking for one in the UK. The Australian company would deliver to the UK (or worldwide) at a good price but would take up to 2 weeks. Fairfax cookshop was the sole distributor in the UK.
The packaging of this item was very stylish and included a leaflet on ideas for recycling your spent coffee. Despite it's small size, it felt very sturdy and planted on the worktop. It did not slide around when kncoking out the puck. I have a commercial PF for the Silvia and I thought the knock box was going to be too small - I was wrong. I found knocking out my pucks very easy and without any mess at all - esp. if the puck is dry. I would need to empty it every 2 days (usu. 3-4 espressos/day) which is not a chore at all.
Cleaning is very easy and it stands up to frequent use without a problem. It sits on my drip tray when not in use and looks very neat and tidy. I would not hesitate in recommending this product to anyone. A great buy.
