Cooling could be better. What I do is stop the roasting a bit short of where I want it. Beans turn out perfect!
Detailed Commentary
Ive purchased beans from everywhere. NOTHING comes close to the freshly roasted coffee the Gene Cafe delivers! The roaster drum itself is capably of churning out 1/2 pound batches. The rotating action of the drum keeps the beans moving creating a very even roast.
The chaff collector does a good job of removing most of the chaff. The machine noise is low enough I can still here the cracks of the beans.
I thought smoke would be a problem with this unit. I was pleased to see the roaster produces very little smoke. One thing I will say is, if you like dark roasts, it will produce more smoke. The most I take my roasts to is full city ++.
Power is not a problem with the unit either. I have it plugged into a standard household 20 Amp circuit. No circuit trips at all.
Using the unit is a breeze. Time setting and Heat setting controls are on the front of the unit. Depending on your beans your length of roast will change. Ive been using the unit for about 3 months now, and haven't had to toss out any beans.
Go out and get one! You will not be sorry.
