Detailed Commentary
Received earlier today and so far I have done three roasts. It seems to be very sensitive to the amount of beans processed. First batch used 6 oz. of Kenya AA roasted for 7.5 minutes, looks pretty dark to me. Second batch 6 oz. of Kenya AA roasted for 6 minutes, uneven browning of the beans. Third roast 4.8 oz. of Kauai roasted for 6 minutes, very nice color.
I couldn't wait any longer to try a batch so I ground a couple of scoops from the second batch and WOW! I am truly amazed at the flavor and this was without waiting for the beans to rest the proper amount of time. I have been an avid fan of Gevalia coffee for the past two years and this was at the very least the equal of anything I have received from them. I am very impressed with the results on my first attempt. I am recording my batches and hope to learn how to make repetitive batches with the same results. On the last batch I used the rocking motion described by others to help with a more even roast. This seems to help a lot with the evenness of the roast.
I measured 118 volts before starting the machine and 116 volts with the machine running.
This is a wonderful website with excellent information to help a beginner (Thank all of you).
