As of the date of this First Look, the Gaggia Carreza is now selling for $199 from Aabree Coffee (note, this is subject to change, and probably will - we hear of a $30 increase coming soon). A variety of colours are available for this model. |

A pricing level can do a lot to a person. What may only be a $10 or $20 difference in a product price could be a make or break thing.
When we initially wrote this First Look, the Gaggia Carezza, the subject of this article, was at a magical $199 price. Since the original writing, it's gone up $30 because of the strength of the Euro vs the US Dollar, and somehow, it's less appealing to many folks.
With that established, let's launch into this. At $199, we thoroughly enjoyed doing this initial evaluation of the Gaggia Carezza. It has a lot of the oomph of the higher-priced Gaggia machines, and cuts costs by doing more plastic. That isn't so bad, because most of the plastic is inconsequential to the machine's operation and ability.
Doug Wiebe has stepped up to do both the First Look and Detailed Review for this machine, and CoffeeGeek is very thankful for his help. In this First Look, you'll see a lot of commentary about the machine, probably a bit more than normal First Looks.
But we ask you to keep in mind this is a very initial and exploratory evaluation - our Detailed Review, when published, is CoffeeGeek's definitive word on this product. For now, we're happy to present our initial thoughts, playing out the role of "new customer opening the box" as it were.
