Did you ever have an opinion of a product that was completely blown away once you actually saw the product in action? This happened to me with the Acaia scale.

Initially launched on Kickstarter, this scale promised simplicity but also a wide range of connectivity. At one point, had backed it on Kickstarter myself, but I removed my backing because of the initial lack of Android mobile support. Fortunately, Android support soon came, and more is to come down the road.

After all, this was a "connected" scale. What is a connected scale? It means that the scale communicates wirelessly with your mobile devices and plans were in store to store, share, and socialise the information in the cloud, all via using a coffee scale.

A social networked coffee scale? What the heck?

It seemed that initially, this was just a $130 scale with some software. Sure, a precision, high quality scale, but $130 is a hard price to swallow for a coffee scale. Little did I know how much that software (and the capability of the scale) would factor into making this product a game changer of sorts.
