My wife is off to Thousand Oaks this weekend for a soccer tournament while I'm here with the S1. So she's a little grumpy at the coffee deprivation. Any good coffee to recommend close to Thousand Oaks? I'm familiar with coffee in Orange County, but out towards Thousand Oaks not so much. Thanks for any info.
Was very glad to see this thread last week! I was in the SFV visiting family and friends and ended up meeting my brother in Santa Barbara on Sunday. Unfortunately, I didn't get to go inside the cafe, but my wife picked up a cappa for me while I waited in the car. Not ideal - but it sure was nice to be able to get a drink that tasted good!
I also made it to Steampunk in Valley Village, where I got an Espresso Macchiato. It was very good. My wife got a mocha there and it was very, very good (I got a small taste of it). My only complaint about Steampunk was neither the owner or the barista knew what kind of grinders they had! I was more surprised the barista didn't know. I could tell from across the counter/bar they were both Mazzers, but being a non-pro owner of Macaps, I don't know the Mazzer models on sight. I was also surprised to find the larger one was the Super Jolly (it's bigger than I though it would be)...so I'm guessing the smaller one was a Mini. Then I was even further surprised when it dawned on me their best grinder was the SJ!
Other than that, I had some crappy cappas at Peet's in Tarzana.
Oh, I almost forgot, I stopped at the new Klatch bar in LAX terminal 7! I'll post about that in the recent Klatch thread.
