If you used to visit Barefoot on Stevens Creek, than you will see a lot of familiar smiles here.   Conveniently located in the same spot.

5237 Stevens Creek Blvd, Santa Clara, California

chromaticcoffee.com/

Haven't been able to make it there myself, but I know a lot of the very passionate folks there, and I can pretty much guarantee it will rock your face.

Would love to see some reviews here.  Hope I didn't steal anyone's thunder here, but I saw that nobody had posted anything yet.

There's a bit of a mention in the Coffee and Cafe recommendations in San Fran please :0) thread, but not much beyond that.  I'm glad you started this topic, I was planning on hitting Chromatic on Saturday after robotics coaching is over but I'm starting to think I should go over there right now to kill some time before I have to pick up my Niece from her appointment tonight.

From what I've seen there's some great enthusiasm involved with the new company which is a good thing to see.

I was able to swing by Chromatic last night and enjoy their chocolaty Emperor espresso and a V60 of the Guatemala Eucaliptos, both coffees were very nice.  They've started to change the signage on the place and there were a couple of confused regulars that came in and asked if they were still Barefoot.  Not much has changed yet besides the signs and the coffee... so far they just have Chromatic roasted coffee available to drink or to buy whole-bean.  Overall, the baristas were in a good mood and it was a fun atmosphere, the coffee was certainly good.  They swapped my Barefoot loyalty card for a Chromatic card with my first order.  I left wishing I could stay longer.

This weekend, they will have coffee tastings, free shots of espresso, and other things going on for their grand opening, I'm planning on stopping by Saturday around lunch time.

I stopped in on Saturday only to find out that the grand opening with coffee tastings, free shots of espresso, and other things going on is next weekend.  Oops.  I got a shot of espresso and picked up a bag of Kenya Mbee with a 15% discount.

I hear that they'll have a Sonofresco sample roaster on hand next weekend for some demos.  Should be interesting.

I've made it a few times to Chromatic coffee. I had this very nice fruity single origin Kenya Mbee espresso with great acidity.

I also had this really nice single origin El Salvador El Cero espresso. So smooth! They told me that by being Chromatic coffee they can source and roast their own coffee beans. When they were Barefoot they had to accept whatever Barefoot gave them. Might be better for the people working for Chromatic, but the best single origin espressos I've had over the years were always at Barefoot in Santa Clara. I'll buy some coffee beans from Chromatic and see how the coffee brewed with them compares to the coffee brewed using beans I got from Barefoot.

Is this just a name change for the bar? Did they sell the location and are they going to go to Roaster only? I'm confused?

Been out of the loop a few weeks with a dead computer and getting a new one set up.

When Andy Newbom sold Barefoot Coffee Roasters, the roasting business and location on Sunol and the cafe in Santa Clara went to different owners.  I heard that when the cafe wanted to offer coffees on-bar other than Barefoot roasted coffee, conflict ensued which resulted in the startup of Chromatic Coffee, basically the Santa Clara cafe under a new name with their own roasting operation.  Prior to the grand opening, the Barefoot Coffee Works location announced the (re)opening of a roll-up bar on Sunol and their web page shows the Campbell and Los Gatos locations still under the Barefoot Coffee name.

I think I have most of the fact straight, as far at they go.

Thanks. Not living up there, I had no clue. Want to pass that on.
