Hi All -
My friends pulled me into this new cafe near where they live.  I was pleasantly surprised to see they featured Intelligentsia and Ecco Caffe beans.  I was amazed that I hadn't heard about it yet!  We had two great cups of Ecco Yirga and Ecco Fazenda Sertãozinho prepared with a pour-over.  Both were outstanding.  They had 1 day after roasting beans that they plan on using for pulling shots on their 3 head La Marzocco but they wanted to put a few more days on the fresh roast.   Talking to the owner, Yasmin, they opened up just last tuesday (April 13).

Trivia: this location used to be a Starbucks.  Score one for good coffee.  I'll have to stop in soon.  Did you catch if they serve Black Cat or just the Ecco espresso?

Thanks for letting us know about Top Nosh. I met the owner, Yasmin, who is very friendly and passionate about serving good coffee. They will serve Black Cat espresso but Yasmin told me that with Intelligentsia being so busy with the USBC in Anaheim there is a slight delay in shipment.

Ecco yirg brewed on the Hario V60 pour-over. Floral, clean, and sweet tasting. Great coffee! Top Nosh Cafe is the real deal!

Thanks to Tim's twitter I found out that Top Nosh is now serving Black cat. I went to Top Nosh and had this very nice Black Cat espresso which had good chocolate with fruit flavors and nice acidity. Great shot!

So I was there on Saturday.  Sunday I get a call from my friend who is bitching to me that now her boyfriend won't drink her coffee (stovetop moka) and wants to go back to Top Nosh.  hehehe.  That was easy to convince them to drink real coffee.

Thinking about the Bay Area coffee seen lately, there are quite a few places that serve very good to excellent coffee all over the place.  It's still a small percentage but it's definitely getting more common than it even was a few years ago.  A very nice thing to see.

Ecco espresso blend pulled at Top Nosh today. Very smooth, nice body, first chocolate flavor with nice fruity acidity in the bottom of the cup. Good job pulling this espresso.

on my way up north during vacation had a chance to stop by top nosh as a father's day present.  first shot was ecco.  really nice, the same light sweetness i get back home, with that nice bright finish.  they then opened up and dialed in their latest black cat for me.  worth the wait.  i've been unsuccessful with the new (not so new at this point i guess) formulation with my set up; just kind of muddy.  here it was well defined, fruity and spicy at the end; very interesting.  san jose CGers, please keep this place going!  they have a real passion for espresso.  and the orange LM is really cool too.
